Shannon Weckbacher, originally from Bogotá, Colombia, is a Political Scientist and holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She brings more than ten years of professional experience in the sociocultural, political, and educational sectors, with a career that bridges cultural and social project management, teaching and training, and academic as well as applied research. Her work has consistently integrated perspectives on gender, interculturality, and decolonial thought.
In her professional journey, Shannon has coordinated, mentored, evaluated, and advised programs led by public and private institutions in Colombia, including the Institute of the Arts (Bogotá), the Secretariat of Culture (Bogota), the Fundación Academia Arteatro (Bogota), the Escuela Superior de Administración Pública (Bogota), the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), and several cultural foundations and organizations. She has dedicated her efforts to promoting the arts, strengthening community participation, and fostering social transformation through memory, diversity, and citizen engagement.
As an educator, Shannon has taught at the primary, secondary, and university levels, which has given her an interdisciplinary perspective on education and a strong ability to adapt to diverse learning contexts and age groups. This broad teaching experience enriches her work as a Spanish teacher, where she integrates creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness into the classroom.
Beyond her academic and professional background, Shannon is deeply rooted in the arts—she is the daughter of artists, an artistic makeup creator, and passionate about integrating creativity into learning and community life. She loves spending time with her family, enjoys reading about diversity and interculturality, and continues to explore artistic expression as a tool for building bridges across cultures.
