Katy Parker (she/her) joined Summit Montessori in the fall of 2024, and is the lead guide in Lower Elementary. She was introduced to her first Montessori classroom in 1998, and it was love at first sight. The environment made sense, the didactic materials sparked curiosity, and the comprehensive curriculum provided deep intrigue.
Katy has the unique background of having taught or assisted in Montessori classrooms for students from toddlers through high school. She received her B.A. in Human Development, with a concentration in Early Childhood, from California State University East Bay in Hayward, CA, and holds multiple Montessori credentials. She received her 3-6 Early Childhood training from The Montessori Teacher Education Center in San Francisco, CA. Her 6-12 Elementary training was through the Montessori Elementary Teacher Training Collaborative in Lexington, MA, and her 12-15 Adolescent Certification was achieved through the North American Montessori Teachers Association in Hiram, OH.
Yoga is an integral part of Katy’s life. Through her own practice and the support of yogi mentors, she was inspired to complete a 200-Hour Teacher Training at Sol Seek Yoga Studio in Santa Barbara, CA. Sharing her knowledge of yoga and mindfulness with her students is a connection she greatly appreciates. Katy is a lifelong learner who is passionate about the Montessori pedagogy. Outside of the classroom, she can be found connecting with her daughter, enjoying her latest book, or exploring nature.
