Summit Montessori Parent Association (SMPA)
SMPA is a volunteer group with a mission to encourage parent involvement at the school and create opportunities for our community of families to connect throughout the school year. We believe that the best way to feel connected to the school community is by forming relationships. All SMPA volunteer opportunities are friendship–building opportunities. We hope that you join us for some good work and good laughs—all in support of our school!
All SMPA events are optional and voluntary; there are no dues, requirements, or minimums. We encourage every family to consider how they might participate in community events. Throughout the year you will hear from us with different ways to engage. Requests for help might be anything from buying some candy off an Amazon wishlist to giving it out at a trick-or-treating table; bringing some napkins to a picnic or taking a shift at the book fair; contributing a few dollars to buy lunch for the teachers or bringing some snacks to a community event; spending a morning laminating classroom materials or setting up book fair shelves. We appreciate all help and welcome all volunteers! Below are the four main SMPA committees:

Events Committee – plan and envision events like picnics, Halloween at Summit and SMPA Coffees

Book Fair Committee – help pull off one of our biggest events of the year!

Materials Committee – meets most Thursday mornings after drop-off to make classroom materials requested by teachers

Community Service – select recipient organizations for drives and plan other service events

Volunteering
Besides volunteering with SMPA, there are a number of other volunteer opportunities that exist at Summit.
